Lefika Moagi

Lefika is the Head of Strategy and Projects where he focused delivering MCM corporate strategy, business improvement, and capital projects portfolios. Previously, he was a Senior Project Manager responsible for development, commissioning and ramp up of the New Open Cast Coal Mine, Coal Processing Washing Plant and Supporting Infrastructure commonly referred to as Motheo Project for Coal Supply into the Regional and International Markets.


He previously held number of roles in MCM such as Project Manager and Project Controls Manager since 2016. Prior to joining MCM, he held various project management consulting roles in Debswana Diamond Company.


He is seasoned mining executive with significant experience in project evaluation incl. feasibility studies, brownfields and greenfield capital projects development, Strategy Planning, decision support and contractor management within the Botswana mining environment.


Lefika holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom, Post Graduate Diploma in Strategy Management and Leadership from Chartered Management Institute, in the United Kingdom, a Post Graduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management from Botswana Accountancy College in Botswana and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Electrical from Multimedia University in Malaysia.


He has also completed the Management Development Programme (MDP, Business Leadership) with the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and an Executive Coaching Programme.


He is also certified as a Registered Practitioner in Project Management with APMG International in the United Kingdom and registered as a practicing engineer with Botswana Engineering Registration Board (ERB) and Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) respectively.
