Oratile Joyce Lesiapeto is an Economist and Policy Researcher with experience in market intelligence, business consulting, global markets and policy development. She currently serves as a Researcher for the National Assembly (Parliament) of Botswana, where she conducts crucial policy analysis and research to support informed legislative action. Ms Lesiapeto holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Botswana. Her research interests focus keenly on critical global issues, including climate change, biodiversity, renewable energy, and financial markets. For this conference, she will present her paper, “Policy without Preparedness: Modeling the Effect of the Rooftop Solar Program on E-waste Generation in Botswana.” The research applies an econometric analysis approach to reveal a policy-driven pollution trap, providing evidence-based urgency for incorporating e-waste management into national law following the growth of solar energy adoption in Botswana.
