Stephan Bergh is an underground mine ventilation specialist and has worked within the mine ventilation engineering environment for more than 14 years. During this time, Stephan has held a variety of legally appointed, operational, technical and managerial roles at numerous operations and specialises in practical and achievable ventilation designs and outcomes for underground mines.

He is a fellow of the Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa and the current Chairman of the MVSSA Colliery branch and will serve as Junior VP of the MVSSA for the 2024/2025 term.

Stephan has extensive coal experience that envelopes a host of mining methods including short wall mining, long wall mining, drill and blast, board and pillar as well as pillar extraction. During his time at Howden, he has worked on numerous hard rock projects that employ a variety of mining methods.
