Suzyo Thomas Kumwenda is an accomplished energy and mining professional with extensive experience in power infrastructure development, resource-sector investment, and sustainable energy solutions across Zambia. He is currently seconded as Commercial Manager at Zambia National Energy Corporation Ltd, where he plays a key role in structuring and advancing strategic national energy projects.

He has led high-impact initiatives in renewable energy and mining-power integration, including Zambia’s first fully integrated 200kVA mini-grid powering an amethyst mining operation — a benchmark for productive-use energy in the extractives sector. His portfolio also includes the appraisal of a US$10 million renewable energy green bond and advisory work on project finance, power sector development, and energy solutions that unlock mining and rural economic growth.

Suzyo serves on the Board of Directors of Chibuluma Mines Plc and Conservation Lower Zambezi, contributing strategic leadership at the nexus of energy, mining, and sustainable development across Africa.
